Gender-Lens Investing
Deepening Donor Impact Through Our Gender-lens Portfolio
To maximize our ability to use all forms of capital to achieve our mission, The Women’s Foundation of Colorado is deepening our gender-lens investing options for donors.
WFCO targets allocating a minimum of 51 percent of our invested assets to gender lens investments by the end of 2021. As of December 31, 2019, The Foundation has reached 39.4 percent.
What is gender-lens investing?
Gender-lens investing is a form of impact investing, which is investing with the intent of both a financial and measurable, beneficial, social return. Gender-lens investing specifically benefits women by addressing gender disparities, most commonly through three lenses: access to capital, workplace equity, and products and services supporting women.

When you open a donor-advised fund at WFCO or participate in one of our giving circles, you know that your investment will align with WFCO priority issues, such as equal pay, family-friendly work policies, and gender diversity on corporate boards and executive management.
The Foundation offers two gender-lens investing options for donors:
- A long-term, unitized portfolio, which is currently 27.8 percent gender-lens invested as of December 2019.
- A 100 percent gender-lens portfolio, which no other community foundation in Colorado offers.
