wfco Volunteer Opportunities

How to Give Your Time, Talent, Treasure, and Testimony

As a community foundation, most of our impact is achieved through the collective impact of generous donations, collaborative efforts, and strategic partnerships in public policy advocacy, research, and grantmaking. Volunteers are also cricital for our success - and the success of women across our state. We offer or promote the following opportunities annually:

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” — Unknown

WFCO has several committees comprised of community members who lend their expertise to The Foundation to inform our decisions and strengthen outcomes. Committees include the Annual Luncheon committee, Audit & Finance committee, Communications Advisory committee, Development committee, Direct-service grantmaking committee, Investment committee, Public Policy committee, and Programmatic Investment Committee. We are currently seeking members for the following:

Annual Luncheon committee

As the state's largest gathering benefiting Colorado women and girls, a lot of preparation goes into our Annual Luncheon. Do you have a large network you can tap into on behalf of The Foundation? We need your help to secure sponsorships. The kickoff for our 2024 Luncheon Committee scheduled for April 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Bigsby’s Folly. RSVP to elvae@wfco.org.

We also need volunteers the day before the Luncheon and the day of the Luncheon to help prepare gift bags for table captains, stuff nametags, help set up tables, and more. If you are interested, please contact Elva Escobedo, events manager, at elvae@wfco.org

Direct-Service Grantmaking committee

The committee advises the WFCO board of trustees on grantmaking decisions regarding the direct-service members of our WINcome grantmaking, based on review of all letters of interest (LOIs), proposals, and reports submitted by applicants and grantees, as well as participation in learning opportunities with the cohort.

WFCO strives for the committee to be a diverse body of Coloradans committed to supporting women and girls across the state. Through service on the committee, members will learn about our community and issues facing women and girls, and develop as leaders and philanthropists. Responsibilities of committee members include:

  • Participate in at least two meetings per year
  • Committee orientation and training
  • Grantmaking renewal meeting
  • Review renewal grant applications from WINcome grantees and recommend future grants
  • Participate in grantmaking selections and recommend grantees to the Board of Trustees
  • Monitor grantee progress through updates from WFCO staff
  • Participate in learning opportunities with the cohort

The committee roster is full at this time. We hope to add new committee members in the 2024-2025 grantmaking year. For additional questions, please contact Crystal Ayala-Goldstein, programs manager, at crystal@wfco.org.

Volunteer with a direct service grantee

We encourage those wanting to give their time and talent to advance Colorado women and their families more frequently to explore volunteer opportunities with our WINcome (Women + Income = Women Thriving) direct service grantees.
