The Women's Foundation is hiring a development officer.  

Position Overview

Do you have fundraising and events experience? Do you have a passion for supporting Colorado’s women and families? This may be the job for you! The development officer’s role directly contributes to WFCO’s mission. Working closely with the VP of development and the director of development, you will actively build relationships, design, and execute exciting events; manage creative fundraising campaigns and appeals; manage corporate sponsorships; and solicit gifts. You would be part of a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly productive team of fundraising professionals where your skills and experiences can grow.

Primary Responsibilities

The development officer is responsible for:

  • Leading the planning and execution of event sponsorships. Directs the preparation, cultivation, acquisition, recognition, and renewal plans for event sponsors including writing grants for sponsorships as required.
  • Overseeing multiple aspects of the Annual Luncheon, The Foundation’s largest fundraising event: including planning details of the event, logistics, securing sponsors, managing day of volunteers, and leading the Annual Luncheon committee.
  • Managing Empowerment Council (EC), our emerging philanthropists’ program, including annual planning and execution of events and the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of members.
  • Managing fundraising campaigns including the Annual Appeal and Colorado Gives Day in partnership with the communications team.
    Supporting VP of development in the identification, cultivation, and execution of events for WFCO’s gift planning program, Women Will.
  • Providing exemplary donor services, including communications, advising, and stewarding to build long-term relationships with The Foundation and move donors up the giving ladder.
  • Supporting the VP of development with managing the development committee
  • Achieving annual financial goals.
  • Actively participating in events as directed by the VP of development.
  • Maintaining donor database and compiling data for stewardship purposes.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Comfortable working directly with donors, corporate partners, foundations, and a portfolio of relationships; and with balancing multiple, concurrent fundraising initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in fundraising and special events.
  • Proven fundraising experience, particularly with sponsorships and individual donors.
  • Outstanding PC skills, including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as Raiser's Edge. Experience performing advanced functions, such as mail merge.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven strong project management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a team and all levels of volunteers one-to-one and in a group setting.

Physical Working Conditions & Effort Required 

Work is typically performed in a standard office environment; however, we have been working virtually since March 2020 and foresee this continuing until January 2022. Additionally, occasional travel for community events around the state is required, as well as occastional evenings and weekends. The person in this position is frequently responsible for setting up for events and meetings, which may require moving equipment, furniture, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds and positioning oneself to connect computer or electrical cords, set up banners, refreshments, etc.

Salary Range

Starting salary range of $50,000 – $55,000 commensurate with experience, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package including generous paid vacation, paid sick, medical/dental/vision insurance, paid family leave, a retirement plan match and more.
