Northern CO Regional Committee

The purpose of the Northern CO Regional Committee is to actively engage our communities in the work of WFCO. We benefit by bringing the voices of Northern CO’s community to the table; being at the forefront of sharing timely relevant research and public policy efforts; participating in WFCO education events to be held locally; building a network for women, girls, and community partners from the region; and growing regional strategic philanthropy.

By supporting WFCO, you will be working toward systemic change with others from your community to address the following issues facing Colorado women and girls:

  • In Larimer and Weld Counties around 10-15% percent of women are living at poverty level.

  • In Larimer and Weld Counties, single mothers earn approximately $22,000-$29,000, and the cost of child care can be nearly half their income.

  • Women working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields earn 33% more than in other fields and Colorado has the highest number per capita of entry-level STEM jobs, yet women represent only 24% of the STEM work-force. Too many women are discouraged at a young age from pursuing their scientific interests and lack female role models and mentors who could help them achieve success in STEM careers.
