Grantmaking
Many factors impact economic self sufficiency. A catalyst for social change since 1987, The Women's Foundation of Colorado has built an endowment of over $11 million, and has invested more than $9 million with 180 agencies in 75 communities statewide.
The Women's Foundation of Colorado has divided our grantmaking into two primary areas.
- Through our Targeted Fund, we identify a target area of focus for the majority of our grant funds for multi-year efforts. For 2005-2008, we are focusing on economic public policy reform.
- Through our Direct Service Fund (formerly Flex Fund), we grant funds to organizations throughout the state that are addressing various aspects of economic self-sufficiency, either by providing direct services or systems change efforts for both women and girls.
The Foundation also makes grants through Donor Advised Funds and Special Interest Funds, as well as short-term special interest granting programs.
Award Programs
The Women's Foundation administers two awards programs, designed to recognize accomplished women and high school girls, and directly engage them in philanthropy for women, by women.

Capacity Building
The Women's Foundation of Colorado works to build the capacity of its nonprofit partners. Although we recognize that our partners are the true "experts" in the field of women's and girls' economic self-sufficiency, the WFCO offers classes, workshops and publications to build the knowledge base and the organization's ability to succeed.
