The Women's Foundation's mission is to build resources and lead change so that the women and girls of Colorado are full and equal participants in society.
Our goal is that every woman in Colorado is economically self-sufficient, and every girl in Colorado is on the path to economic self-sufficiency.
A catalyst for social change since 1987, The Women's Foundation of Colorado has built an endowment of over $11 million, and has invested more than $9 million with 180 agencies in 75 communities statewide.
The Foundation focuses its efforts in two areas:
- Through an interactive and collaborative grantmaking process, The Women's Foundation of Colorado works with our grantees to achieve social and systems change and eliminate the barriers women and girls face in achieving economic self-sufficiency.
- Through REACH—Research, Education, Advocacy, and Collaboration—The Women's Foundation of Colorado tracks the status of women and girls in Colorado to identify emerging needs, to celebrate successes, and to provide context for grant making and other work; and serves as an advocate and resource for women's and girls' organizations, business, government and community leaders
With initial funding of $2 million in 1987, the Foundation's endowment has grown to over $11 million through individual, corporate and foundation contributions. The Foundation's endowment and community contributions enabled the Women's Foundation to give more than $500,000 back to the community through grants, initiatives and outreach in 2004. With this stable financial base, the Foundation is well positioned for continued growth in its service to the women and girls of Colorado.
The Women's Foundation offices are on the third floor of The Merle Catherine Chambers Center for the Advancement of Women (The Chambers Center), on the University of Denver campus. Download information about parking.
